CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 30, 2015 – UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), is providing a $25,000.00 grant to the Inver Hills College Foundation to fund scholarships for veterans and their family members pursuing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. The grant will be distributed over four years, and will fund several scholarships per year under the UTC Aerospace Systems Veterans Scholarship program. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the company has funded the scholarship program.
On April 9, 2015, executives from UTC Aerospace Systems’ facility in Burnsville, Minnesota, attended the “Celebrate Inver Hills” awards ceremony recognizing scholarship recipients. Mark Skarohlid, director of Sensors and Integrated Systems said, “Supporting these students with scholarship funds is a key way that UTC Aerospace Systems demonstrates its core values of supporting our veterans and promoting STEM education. Employees at our Burnsville business have worked with leaders at Inver Hills Community College for several years to prepare students for the high value, high technology jobs so critical to our company’s future. Further, we believe it is important to support our veterans, current military personnel and their family members, so our grant is specifically targeted to these individuals who have already given so much to the nation.
