HARTFORD, Conn. - More than 750 people, including 400 United Technologies Corp. employees, families and friends, will team-up this weekend to fight cancer in its tracks.
The third annual Relay For Life of East Hartford will be held on Saturday, July 30, beginning at 5 p.m. at Rentschler Field. This year – for the first time – the event will run overnight until 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 31. Participants on more than 55 teams will campout and take turns walking through the night, because cancer never sleeps.
Join us – as we celebrate alongside cancer survivors in a Survivor’s Lap on Saturday at 5 p.m. and remember those who bravely fought and lost their battles in a Luminaria Ceremony at 9:15 p.m.
Walk. Volunteer. Or, give what you can. You can do all of this by visiting Relay for Life East Hartford.
Our goal is to raise $150,000 for the American Cancer Society. United Technologies pays all operating costs and registration fees, enabling the full amount of participant fundraising to go directly to the American Cancer Society. UTC has donated $25,000 and in addition has raised more than $80,000 in team donations – for a total of $105,000. All of the money raised will go directly to local programs, including:
- cancer research at the University of Connecticut;
- summer camps for children battling cancer;
- free transportation for cancer patients to hospitals, as they undergo life-saving treatments.
This year, more than 21,000 people in Connecticut will be diagnosed with cancer. Your support can help the American Cancer Society save lives and fight back.
