Pratt & Whitney Ranked Among Best Employers For Veterans

From service to civilian, Pratt & Whitney is committed to helping military personnel find their next mission upon leaving the armed forces. This commitment has led to Pratt & Whitney again being named among the best employers for service members, military veterans, and military families in the annual Military Times "Best for Vets" ranking. This marks the third consecutive year the company has earned a spot on the prestigious list.

Pratt & Whitney currently employs more than 3,600 veterans, who make up 15% of the total population of employees. The company is ranked among the best of peer Aviation & Defense companies and has the distinction of being the highest ranked company in the state of Connecticut on the Military Times list. 

Pratt & Whitney’s employee resource group (ERG), United Technologies Coalition for Veterans (UTC-4-VETS), spearheaded the effort that helped recognize the company for its focus on veteran employment. UTC-4-VETS prioritizes community involvement, honor & recognition, and recruitment & retention for veterans.

Being honored on this list is a fantastic achievement and one we hope to build on in the years ahead." 

Pratt & Whitney has focused on a number of areas important to veteran employees to ensure it fosters a conducive workplace for them. These include accepting military experience in lieu of certain certifications and making up the difference between salary and military pay when reservists are activated for training or deployments. Additionally, employees have access to a robust Employee Scholarship Program which has provided more than $1.3 billion to further their formal education.

“Pratt & Whitney and UTC-4-VETS work hard to promote and advocate for veterans in our workforce and our community. It was gratifying to see that work recognized through this annual ranking,” said Bragoni.

The ranking is developed from an editorially independent survey in which employers evaluated their culture, policies for military-connected employees, and resources they devote to hiring veterans. The list has grown over the last three years from 75 to 100 organizations across more than 30 industries.
