Pratt & Whitney was recently named the 2015 recipient of the Middlesex County (Connecticut) NAACP Larry McHugh Business Award, which recognizes a business in the county that has shown a commitment to women, families and people of color.
Shornda Cadore, director, Supply Management, and president of Pratt & Whitney's African American Forum, accepted the award on behalf of the company, along with several representatives from African American Forum.
"Pratt & Whitney is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace for all employees," Cadore said during her acceptance remarks. "Recognizing that inclusion powers innovation, we encourage and promote the engagement of different individuals with individual differences to create business value."
"Pratt & Whitney is not only a critical employer in our state and region, but it is a strong corporate citizen that supports a host of community initiatives," Larry McHugh, president, Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, wrote in his recent "Chamber Corner" column in The Middletown Press. "We are very lucky to have Pratt & Whitney in Middletown and Middlesex County, and I congratulate the company on this well-deserved honor from the NAACP."
