The production ramp up is fast becoming a reality throughout Pratt & Whitney. To learn more about what that means to employees, we are launching the "Profiling the Production Ramp Up" video series, featuring Pratt & Whitney employees from across the enterprise. Whether they work in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, engineering or quality, their message is the same: "We're ready for the ramp."
In this video, "Technology is Critical to Success," Jeffrey Edwards, deputy general manager, Pratt & Whitney Amercon, explains what needs to happen from an operator's perspective to achieve success in manufacturing complex jet engine hardware.
"In order for us to maintain our cost structure and be successful with this program, our operators need to be making parts 100 percent of the time," Edwards said. "Without this technology, we wouldn't be able to do that because there would be too much down time with them doing things such as hard-point gauging, measuring of parts, over-inspecting of parts."
