Advanced Coating Technologies (ACT), a subsidiary of Pratt & Whitney, was recognized on Dec. 2, 2014, by the Orange County Partnership with its Golden Shovel Award. This award, presented annually by Alliance for Balanced Growth, a standing committee of the Orange County Partnership, recognizes companies that have made commitments to grow in Orange County, New York. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Earlier this year, the State of New York announced Pratt & Whitney is making a $140 million investment to expand operations in the Town of Wallkill. The expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs as well as retain 95 existing jobs. The facility performs a proprietary engine blade coating process that gives engines added life, less wear and better efficiencies.

"Pratt & Whitney has a bright future, and we are preparing for that future by investing in our global manufacturing network," said Joe Sylvestro, vice president of Manufacturing Operations. "It is an honor to receive this award. Our expansion of ACT is an example of our commitment to invest more than $1 billion in our manufacturing network over the next few years as we prepare to more than double engine production."

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, and auxiliary power units. United Technologies Corp., based in Hartford, Connecticut, provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries.
