TIANJIN, China, Aug. 1, 2017 — Ping’An Finance Center (PAFC) in Shenzhen, China has been officially recognized as the world’s fourth-tallest building by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). Fourteen Otis Skyrise® and Gen2® elevators serve this iconic building that was recently officially completed. Otis is the world’s leading manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
At 600 meters, PAFC is currently the tallest building in Shenzhen and the second tallest in China. As a high-end multi-use complex located in the heart of the city’s central business district, PAFC presents vertical transportation challenges since it includes a range of floors of different heights with different usage requirements. The Otis SkyRise Super Double Deck elevator automatically adjusts the distance between the two decks during operations, providing an ideal solution for high-rise buildings like PAFC.
To help meet China’s demand for more environmentally-friendly cities, PAFC has selected Otis ReGen™ drive technology. The Gen2 machine with a ReGen drive is smaller than a conventional geared machine with a non-regenerative drive and capable of reducing overall elevator energy consumption by 75 percent under normal operating conditions compared to traditional machines without regenerative drives.
Otis elevators serve numerous iconic buildings, including many that have held the title of “World’s Tallest”, including the Burj Khalifa, which currently holds that title. In China, Otis has contributed to three of the five tallest buildings: Shenzhen Ping’An Finance Center, Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Center and Shanghai World Finance Center.
“Innovation is in the DNA of Otis. As the industry inventor, Otis pioneers innovation and technology development,” said Luis Molina, President, Otis China Limited (OCL). “We are honored to support our high rise customers in moving people in their landmark buildings both in China and worldwide.”
