SEOUL, Korea, Aug. 29, 2016 – Otis Elevator Korea (Otis Korea) recently held its Family Safety Recognition Day, inviting equipment installation contractors with excellent safety records from across the country to bring their families to renew a shared commitment to safety and mutual growth. Otis, the world’s leading manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
This is the second year Otis Korea held its Family Safety Recognition Day to share its first and foremost value of safety with its trusted field contractors and their families at the Otis Korea headquarters. This popular program was well-received by 173 participants including the contractors and their families. Otis Korea executives from the six branch offices across the nation (Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, Jeonju, Busan, and Daegu) also attended the event.
Attendees participated in a variety of events, including a safety-themed magic show, games and elevator safety education programs for children. Fun, interactive safety programs for the whole family were followed by lunch, movie and other cultural events.
Accompanied by his two children, Gyeong-ik JEONG, the director of the installation team in Gangbuk, Seoul, thanked Otis for “a fun family day that included an unusual and exciting opportunity to learn about elevator safety, and a chance for the children to understand what their dad does for work.”
Otis has been dedicated to promoting its corporate policy and philosophy with the phrase, “All Safe,” which applies to all Otis employees, contractors and customers. Otis Korea has worked tirelessly to design and provide various programs to share its culture of safety with contractors and achieve shared growth.
One such program is the S-Miles (Safety Miles) program that gives safety miles to contractors and celebrates their accomplishments. Contractors are also provided with the same monthly safety training materials provided to Otis Korea employees. Contractors are asked to attend special safety education sessions and zero-incident campaigns in the field.
Hyuk-joon KWON, supervising sales director, Otis Korea, reiterated the significance of safety. “All employees and every contractor we work with must understand that safety is critical and that we are all responsible to ensure safety. We are going to keep sharing the culture of safety with our contractors along with our efforts to promote mutual growth.”
