UTAS Singapore Facility Wins 2013 Energy and Greenhouse Gas Management Award

The Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Management Award recognizes conservation or greenhouse gas elimination projects focused toward acheiving UTC energy use and greenhouse gas reduction goals. This year, the award goes to the UTC Aerospace Systems Singapore Facility for implementing a lighting efficiency improvement program that resulted in a  50% reduction in energy consumption and a 325 metric-ton CO2 emissions reduction.

The Singapore facility achieved this commendable goal by installing an advanced lighting control system with dimmable lightbulbs, occupancy sensors,  and customized task lighting. They also conducted an on-site energy survey to identify savings opportunities, such as a "Shut-It-Off" program for office lighting, decommissioning unecessary compressed air systems, and increasing office air conditioning by one degree Celsius.

Through these simple, cost-effective measures, the Singapore facility proved that small changes can make a big difference.
