Jenny Jiang first joined the UTC family when she received a job offer from Pratt & Whitney Canada in 2001. “One of the first things I noticed,” says Jenny, “was that many of my colleagues were applying for the Employee Scholar Program. Later I saw those same employees promoted to higher positions.”
W he n Jenny transferred to UTC Aerospace Systems in 2011, she felt the time was right to pursue her own advanced degree. She enrolled in the MBA program at Hunan University and graduated in 2014.
“There are so many ways I benefited from the experience,” says Jenny. “My management and communications skills improved significantly. And I was able to apply my coursework to my job.”
One class was of particular interest. “I took a class in Organizational Behavior, which helped me to better understand the behaviors of individuals and how they relate to team behaviors. I have found this to be very important to encouraging teamwork and building high-performance teams,” says Jenny.
Jenny has no reservations about encouraging colleagues to enroll in the ESP. “UTC wants to help employees improve themselves, and the company truly supports our lives and future career development. The ESP helps us think about what our strengths and weaknesses are and to choose a major that best suits us.”
