Kanwal Reen is constantly asked what exactly she does at her job. After 16 years, she has worked at several businesses of United Technologies. Each time she takes on a new role with more challenging and complex assignments; however, one thing remains constant – her motivation and feeling of purpose in her career.
“The biggest thing that drives me as an engineer is how the problems you solve make someone else’s life a little better,” she says. “The feeling of impacting the way people do things is an indescribable emotion. Honestly, there is nothing else I would rather do than be an engineer.”
Engineering fits with Kanwal’s personality. She likes to dive head first into problems and data analytics. It was not until she began working at Collins Aerospace that she realized how much she enjoyed engineering. “During my first year at Collins Aerospace, everything clicked,” she says. “I could apply my studies to real world problems and I worked with a fabulous group of people.”
As for the future of Collins Aerospace, the possibilities are limitless. “We have engineers around the globe working to redefine aerospace. The initiatives we are investing in are inspiring – more electric aircraft, more autonomous aircraft, more connected ecosystems. There are so many opportunities to be part of these projects.”
