Erin Scott has held many titles over the years: Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, mother of four young children and senior service manager for Otis. In each, she has one goal: keeping people safe.
United Technologies is proud to employ more than 6,600 veterans, who, like Erin, sacrificed to serve and fight for our freedom.
Erin joined the Navy in 1999 as an F/A-18C Hornet pilot. After three years in the cockpit, she continued her service as a maintenance officer for the USS Nimitz, one of the largest warships in the world. In 2010, Erin completed her service and began her civilian career at Otis as a territory manager overseeing more than 400 elevators.
Erin quickly realized the parallels between her work conducting aviation maintenance for the Navy and her work servicing Otis elevators.
“To get someone safe on deck – that’s the job well done,” she says. “It’s the same thing here at Otis. I don’t rest until that phone call comes, saying, ‘Hey boss, we’re all in our cars headed home.’”
Today Erin is a senior regional field operations manager located in the Boston area. It’s been nearly 8 years since she joined Otis, and she still experiences daily the feeling of pride that comes with keeping people safe. She is an active member of employee resource groups for veterans and women in the elevator service field.
At UTC, we recognize the contributions that military personnel, veterans, and their families make to our country, our company and our communities. We thank all of the men and women who have served and wish them a happy Veterans Day.
