Chris Calio was appointed president of Pratt & Whitney on January 1, 2020. He has been part of the United Technologies family for 15 years, spending 10 years in leadership positions in the company’s aerospace businesses.
Previously, Calio was president of Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines business from January 2017 through 2019. In that position he was responsible for the development, program management, sales, customer support and aftermarket services of the company’s portfolio of large commercial engines, including the Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine family.
Before being named Commercial Engines president, Calio served as chief of staff for the Chairman and CEO of United Technologies. He joined UTC in 2005 as assistant counsel and served in positions of increasing responsibility across the company. Calio led Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines Legal Department during the development and launch of the Airbus A320neo program, and he was instrumental in leading the company’s acquisition of Rolls-Royce’s share in the International Aero Engines collaboration.
Calio also served as vice president and general counsel for UTC Aerospace Systems, now Collins Aerospace, one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College, and MBA and law degrees from the University of Connecticut.
