Supporting Vibrant Communities

UTC enhances the well-being of the communities in which we operate because we believe positive engagement encourages growth and vitality and helps us attract and retain the best employees.

Key programs include:

American Cancer Society. UTC employees and community members came together on August 28, 2010 for the second annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life of East Hartford. The event, hosted by UTC, raised over $150 million for cancer research and local health education programs, celebrated cancer survivors and promoted cancer awareness.

Special Olympics. In 2010, UTC celebrated its 33rd year of partnership with Special Olympics Connecticut. As the title sponsor of the state Summer Games, UTC supports Special Olympics Connecticut with volunteers and $90,000 in funding annually.

United Way. For more than 50 years, UTC has supported United Way chapters across the United States. Our largest United Way workplace campaign is run annually in our corporate headquarters of Hartford, to benefit the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. In 2010, UTC and its business units provided a corporate gift and ran a workplace giving campaign that together raised more than $6.5 million.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is supported by UTC and our employees.
